Lorna Bliss’s Audition

One of the most memorable and controversial auditions of The X Factor UK in 2012 came from Britney Spears impersonator Lorna Bliss. Taking to the stage in a revealing outfit, Bliss performed Spears’ hit “Till The World Ends” with a routine that quickly became more talked about than her singing.

During the performance, Bliss left the stage and interacted directly with the judges, even climbing onto Louis Walsh’s lap and chasing Gary Barlow around the audition venue. Her energetic and provocative routine stunned both the judges and the audience, creating one of the season’s most talked-about audition moments.

The judges were largely unimpressed by the vocal performance, criticizing her for relying on shock value rather than singing ability. Despite failing to progress in the competition, Bliss succeeded in attracting widespread attention and became one of the standout novelty acts of the series.

The audition generated dozens of viewer complaints because it was broadcast before the UK’s 9 p.m. watershed, prompting an investigation by media regulator Ofcom. However, Ofcom later ruled that the performance did not breach broadcasting regulations, describing it as more comical than genuinely sexual in nature.

More than a decade later, Lorna Bliss’s rendition of “Till The World Ends” remains one of the most unforgettable and controversial auditions in The X Factor UK history, remembered as much for its outrageous theatrics as for the performance itself.
